Landslide Incident in Miri

Another shocking news on landslide incident - latest one. I've got the info from miricommunity.net.

END OF THE ROAD AFTER LANDSLIDE
Two cars tumble 15m into ditch February 04, 2009

INSTEAD of a smooth road ahead, there was a ditch about 15m deep and 100m wide.
.
.
And that was what two cars plunged into at about 6.30pm on Saturday in Miri, Sarawak's second-biggest city, after a landslide. The two drivers had been heading towards the area from opposite directions. Nine people were hurt and seven, including a pregnant woman, were sent to hospital. All were in stable condition, reported China Press.
.
The landslide came after several days of rain in the area that had caused the soil to erode. The first car had six people and some had to be helped out by resident nearby. Soon after, residents saw the second car heading towards the ditch. However, they were unable to stop it in time.At about 8pm, they tried to raise the cars with a crane, but a second minor landslide stopped their rescue efforts. The landslide was not the first in the area in the past month. A 16 Jan landslide saw two petrol station workers near Canada Hill in Miri buried alive.

.
Last week, three people died and seven injured when a landslide affected a hostel in Limbang, while on Friday, a landslide at Miri destroyed eight houses in a village.

The latest landslide along Miri-Bintulu coastal road

This recent one looks pretty bad. The road collapsed. Thank God all those involved are saved. Today, it has been raining again - heavily. Hope there won't be more incident. God bless our land...
